JAMMA Arcade Circuit Boards

It’s not just the home consoles I’m interested in here on the Video Games and Electronics blog and recently I’ve been looking into arcade cabinets and remembering the fun of playing the latest games at the seaside such the Simpsons and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games 4-player arcade games.
After some research I found out about the Japan Amusement Machinery Manufacturers Association (JAMMA) who represent arcade video game manufacturers. In the 90s, arcade games were standardised so that the new games can be installed in arcade cabinets simply by swapping over the circuit boards. I’ll take a look in more detail about the JAMMA standards in a later post but for now here’s a quick look at a JAMMA circuit board for another great arcade game based on a 90s cartoon.

The Bucky O'Hare JAMMA PCB is available from a website called jammaboards.com who specialises in selling them to fans and collectors. It goes it great detail about the features of the different boards and is well worth a look.

Check back here for more about JAMMA circuit boards soon.
